Asus, the Taiwanese manufacturer is one of the few device manufacturers that launched several smartphones over the last year with each smartphone suiting a different use. Starting with Zenfone 3 in June 2016, Asus launched Ultra, Deluxe, Max, 3S Max, Laser in the same Zenfone 3 series. Again in the first half of 2017, Asus came up with a selfie centric smartphone Zenfone Live priced at INR 9,999/- to compete with the likes of Oppo and Vivo. We have got a chance to review the budget.
Design and Look:
Asus is one of the few manufacturers that almost maintains same design with minor changes for all of its smartphones. Featuring a 5-inch display, Live comes with a plastic unibody finish. A 2.5 D curved glass shields the display screen. Three capacitive buttons are placed below the display screen with edges and corners curved to offer a better grip, Overall it just weighs 120 grams making it one of the light weight smartphone.
Rear camera with LED flash is placed on the top left while the front camera with LED flash is placed on the top along with ear piece and light sensors. With head phone jack on the top, the power and volume buttons are placed on the right. The Loud speaker is placed on the bottom, with SIM tray on the left edge.
Features:
Zenfone Live is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, which was launched nearly four years back :(. It is supported by a quad-core processor which clocks at 1.4 GHz and an Adreno 305 GPU. The rear camera has a 13 MP resolution with a f/2.0 aperture while the front camera features a 5 MP resolution. The device runs on a 2GB RAM with internal storage of 16GB expandable on an external memory card using hybrid SIM slot. The gadget is a dual SIM supportable with a hybrid SIM slot. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, FM Radio, Bluetooth 4.0, and micro USB 2.0. A 2,650 mAh battery powers the device. On the software front, the device runs on an Android 6.0.1 with Asus UI over the top of it.
Zenfone Live Usage and Performance:
We have used the smartphone for nearly 10 days and found that the device frequently lags when we try to run several apps in the background. On the camera front, the gadget performs pretty decently with options like HDR Pro, Beautification, Super Resolution, Children, Low Light, QR code, Night Effect, etc. The battery has an average life.
The smartphone lags behind its competitors in the same price range. Over all our rating 3.0 stars out of 5.0
