Windows 10: Review and steps to upgrade

Microsoft launched Windows 8 as an attempt to bring touch to computing, but it did little to please viewers. Microsoft failed with Windows 8/8.1, and the all-new Windows 10 shows how the Redmond Headquartered company accepted the mistake and made the right amendments. The initial reviews of Windows 10 are out, and the new OS version seems to have won fans already.

Windows 7 was launched as a saviour to take away the pain caused by Windows Vista, looks like same is with Windows 10. Windows 10 is a great improvement from Windows 8. The new version of OS is free to upgrade and is available for upgrade from July 29.

How to upgrade to Windows 10?

Check your system specifications:

To ensure that you run the latest update of the operating system. If you run Windows 7, then you should have installed SP1. If you haven’t, you can download it here from official website. Similarly, if you are on Windows 8, then the Windows 8.1 update is a must to be eligible for the upgrade to Windows 10.

The minimum hardware specifications to run Windows 10 are as follows:
Processor: 1 Gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS
RAM: 1 Gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Display: 1024×600

Windows 10 Review upgrade

If you’re running qualified Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 (update), you’ll notice the ‘Get Windows 10′ app icon of Windows in the taskbar to reserve your PC for free Windows 10 upgrade.

If you couldn’t see any such icon on Task bar the reasons might be:

1. Your device isn’t up-to-date with at least Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.

2. Windows Update is turned off or is not set to received updates automatically.

3. Your device is not running genuine Windows.

4. Your device is running  Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise, Windows 7 Enterprise, or Windows RT/RT 8.1, which are excluded from this reservation offer.

5. You’ve blocked or uninstalled the necessary Windows Update functionality.

Click on the “Get Windows 10” icon in the taskbar. Click the icon and now click “Reserve your free Upgrade“. Enter your email and sit back

Windows 10 Consumer Review:

Several consumers are complained about device drivers not functioning properly. Given that Windows 10 OS is a completely new product, there would be bugs and instances of compatibility errors with your existing software suites. Commercial software licenses like Tally, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD or any specialised software suite which you are heavily dependent on for work, you might want to wait it out before you upgrade.
