Yu Televentures, the subsidiary of Micromax unveiled a new smartphone Yu Yunicorn, the successor Yu Yutopia. The new flagship smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and supports Miravision 2.0 that delivers seamless full high-definition display picture quality and fluent video playback on mobile devices. Coming with a full metal body and premium brushed aluminium finish, YU Yunicorn sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with the pixel density of 401 PPI. The thickness of the phone is 8.15mm and has a 2.5D arc glass. Yunicorn is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 processor (2 GHz, True Octa-core 64-bit Cortex-A53 CPU and a 700MHz, Dual-core 64-bit Mali-T860 GPU).
The gadget is powered by 4GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded on an SD card to 128GB. Yunicorn runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with a customized OS and with a new design language AOS (Android on Steroids). AOS is a new interface that has the Around YU 2.0 service. ‘Around Yu 2.0’ is a company’s software that aggregates services from different providers.
On the camera front, there is a 13-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear camera is supported by a dual LED flash and has Phase-detection autofocus, HDR, Electronic image stabilization features which can take up to 1080p videos. On connectivity front option includes Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G LTE. The device competes with the Asus Zenfone Max, LeEco Le 1S, Honor 5X
Supported by a 4000mAh battery, the device is priced at Rs.12,999 for the month of June which will be revised to Rs.14,999 in the month of July. As of now the gadget is available exclusively on Flipkart through a flash sale. The device also features an inbuilt Udio wallet and offers a free credit of Rs.400 for every first 5,000 customers of every flash sale. Users will also get 6 months free subscription of Gaana+, along with one free medical consultation on Lybrate and 30% of on subsequent consultation.
